EJK Tuning Fuel Controller

EJK BASICS

Like any electronic device you need to know the basic operations before you can fully start to use the equipment. Don't worry though this controller is the simplest EFI controller on the market and we will have you making adjustments in seconds. There is NO COMPLEX SOFTWARE program for you to learn. Only three parts of information and you are ready to start tuning.
  1. Be Able to Understand the LED Display
  2. How to Refer to Light Settings
  3. How to Adjust the Modes

CONTROLLER LED DISPLAYS:

The following displays show you an actual visual representation you may encounter with your controller. A short description is provided to explain the LED display.

NO POWER
  Start-up Scrolling
All LEDs are blank. Applying any 9-12 Volt POWER source and a proper GROUND to the correct inputs should display some LED lights. If the unit fails to show any lights then either the installation is incorrect or the unit is faulty.   LEDs are displayed GREEN moving from position 1 to 8 and back again. The Start-Up Scrolling is displayed for a few seconds upon initial power applied to unit. Length of time is dependent on application and may not happen at all.

NO SIGNAL Channel 1
  NO SIGNAL Channel 2
LED in position 1 blinks GREEN and LED in position 8 blinks RED. LED display shown when no injector signal is being inputted on channel 1. Display could be normally shown when just turning on the key to a vehicle which applies power to the injectors, but no injector signal is generated. Can also be displayed upon de-acceleration in some vehicles where the stock ECU shuts off the injectors. Could also signify an error in installation where the channel 1 connectors are loose or a possible break in the harness wiring.   LED in position 2 blinks GREEN and LED in position 8 blinks RED. LED display shown when no injector signal is being inputted on channel 2. Signifies an error in installation where the channel 2 connectors are loose or a possible break in the harness wiring. Check your connector which has a GREEN / GRAY STRIPE wire and a RED wire. Also check your connector which has a SOLID GRAY and a RED wire.

NO SIGNAL Channel 3
  NO SIGNAL Channel 4
LED in position 3 blinks GREEN and LED in position 8 blinks RED. LED display shown when no injector signal is being inputted on channel 3. Signifies an error in installation where the channel 3 connectors are loose or a possible break in the harness wiring. Check your connector which has a RED / BLUE STRIPE wire and a RED wire. Also check your connector which has a SOLID BLUE wire and a RED wire.   LED in position 4 blinks GREEN and LED in position 8 blinks RED. LED display shown when no injector signal is being inputted on channel 4. Signifies an error in installation where the channel 4 connectors are loose or a possible break in the harness wiring. Check your connector which has a WHITE / GREEN STRIPE wire and a RED wire. Also check your connector which has a SOLID GREEN wire and a RED wire.

NO ACTIVE Base Zone
  ACTIVE GREEN ZONE
LED in position 1 blinks very slowly GREEN. Display is shown when none of the three base zones (Green, Yellow, Red) are active. The unit is functioning correctly, but fuel adjustment in the base zones will have no affect. Typically shown for applications where no idle fuel is needed. Notice the blinking rate is considerably slower than when in the adjustment modes.   LEDs are displayed a solid GREEN when the GREEN zone is active. The number of LEDs displayed as a solid GREEN will vary based on the load on the engine. Fuel can be adjusted on the fly with the GREEN adjusting mode when the GREEN zone is active.

ACTIVE YELLOW ZONE
  ACTIVE RED ZONE
LEDs are displayed a solid YELLOW when the YELLOW zone is active. The number of LEDs displayed as a solid YELLOW will vary based on the load on the engine. Fuel can be adjusted on the fly with the YELLOW adjusting mode when the YELLOW zone is active.   LEDs are displayed a solid RED when the RED zone is active. The number of LEDs displayed as a solid RED will vary based on the load on the engine. Fuel can be adjusted on the fly with the RED adjusting mode when the RED zone is active.

ACTIVE OPTIONAL ZONE
  MULTIPLE ACTIVE ZONES
The 8th LED can be set to turn on a solid BLUE for a number of optional zones when they become active. Optional zones include voltage controllers, boost applications, nitrous control, or an Accelerator Pump to name a few. In some cases like when applied with the Accelerator Pump the BLUE LED will come on for very short instances. For boost applications the BLUE LED is enabled as a good diagnostic tool to determine if the pressure sensor is working correctly. The BLUE LED is displayed in conjunction with the current ACTIVE zone being either GREEN, YELLOW, or RED.   For a few rare applications, the LEDs will actually alternate back and forth between multiple colors. This occurs when a base zone ALLOWS another base zone to continue fueling. Typically the YELLOW base zone will turn off the GREEN zone when it becomes active to only allow one fuel adjustment. In this display case however, both the GREEN and YELLOW zones are active which means fuel can be adjusted on the fly with both the GREEN and YELLOW adjusting modes. RED-YELLOW, RED-GREEN, and RED-YELLOW-GREEN alternating lights are also possible.

ADJUSTING MODES
  0.5 LIGHT SETTING
The ADJUSTING MODE is entered by pressing the MODE button. Pressing the MODE button multiple times will move you through all the available adjusting modes which can be up to six modes. Not pressing ANY BUTTONS for several seconds will exit the ADJUSTING MODE, save your light setting positions, and take you back to basic operation displays. Take note that each button is very SENSITIVE and MAY result in you skipping a mode or a light setting position. Within the ADJUSTING MODE you will see either one or two GREEN, YELLOW or RED LEDs flashing at a moderate rate. You may also see the 8th LED flashing BLUE which means you are within the 4th, 5th, or 6th ADJUSTING MODE. The light setting number is determined by the left flashing LED position plus 0.5 if the next LED is also flashing. In the above example, this is a light setting of 2 for the GREEN MODE.   A light setting of 0.5 has a unique flashing rate compared to all other light settings to help distinguish it from a light setting of 1. A light setting of 0.5 blinks twice as fast as the light setting of 1. The above example is showing a light setting of 0.5 for the GREEN MODE.

UNDERSTANDING LIGHT SETTINGS:

There are fifteen (15) light settings for each enabled mode. Instead of needing a computer software to change a tune-up all a person needs to do is adjust the light settings while the controller is powered up. Controllers come programmed with recommended starting settings, but may be required to be changed based on your modifications. Settings are always stated in the correct mode order and followed with the light setting value. Example: GRN-2, YEL-3.5, RED-5, GB-2, YB-4, RB-4.5. The whole number indicates the first LED position which should be blinking. A half step (0.5) will consist of the next LED to the right also blinking. The settings of 0.5 and 1 and differentiated by the speed at which the LED blinks. Look at the images below to get a better idea of how to refer to light settings.

ADJUSTING MODE - YELLOW 1.5
  ADJUSTING MODE - RED 4.5
LEDs in position 1 and 2 are both blinking YELLOW. This is referred to as a YELLOW setting of 1.5. This display means you are in the ADJUSTING MODE and currently have control to ADJUST the YELLOW zone fuel. Use the PLUS and MINUS buttons to move the light setting.   LEDs in position 4 and 5 are both blinking RED. This is referred to as a RED setting of 4.5. This display means you are in the ADJUSTING MODE and currently have control to ADJUST the RED zone fuel. Use the PLUS and MINUS buttons to move the light setting.

ADJUSTING MODE - GREEN-BLUE 5.5
  ADJUSTING MODE - RED-BLUE 8
LEDs in position 5 and 6 are both blinking GREEN and the LED in position 8 is blinking BLUE. This is referred to as a GREEN-BLUE setting of 5.5. This display means you are in the ADJUSTING MODE and currently have control to ADJUST the GREEN-BLUE feature. The GREEN-BLUE feature varies between applications so you will need to consult your instructions to know what this mode is adjusting. Use the PLUS and MINUS buttons to move the light setting.   The LED in position 8 is blinking and alternating between RED and BLUE. This is referred to as a RED-BLUE setting of 8. This display means you are in the ADJUSTING MODE and currently have control to ADJUST the RED-BLUE feature which is currently set at the max setting. The RED-BLUE feature varies between applications so you will need to consult your instructions to know what this mode is adjusting. Use the PLUS and MINUS buttons to move the light setting.

ADJUSTING THE MODES:

The controller comes with three interactive buttons that are used to enter the adjusting mode and change the on-board tuning features' light settings. When power is applied to the unit, the adjusting mode may be accessed at any time by pressing the MODE button. The adjusting mode is distinguishable by at least one or more LEDs flashing. The current adjust mode is determined by the color of the flashing LED(s) and whether or not the 8th LED is blinking blue. The adjusting mode is exited by waiting several seconds without pressing any buttons. Upon exiting, the light setting is automatically saved for each individual mode.

The light settings in each mode are adjusted by pressing the PLUS (+) and MINUS (-) buttons located on the right and left side of the mode button, respectively. For easy reference, the LEDs are numbered 1 through 8. However, the LEDs can be adjusted to the following positions: 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 7.5, 8. Try the interactive Flash Demo below to get used to adjusting the modes and understanding the light setting positions.

The most important thing to understand about this controller is that every application can have different features enabled. Please consult your instructions to check which features are enabled for your application.
