EJK Tuning Fuel Controller

EJK TUNING ADVICE

You have purchased an Electronic Jet Kit. Like carb jet kits in the past, the more you modify, the more responsibility you take in getting your fuel curve right. Most people can easily tune a vehicle from stock to stage 1 modifications. The controller gives you this ability at the touch of a button instead of trying to understand a computer software program. Don't be afraid to make some changes and then go for a ride to try them out. Just be sure to record your settings so you can easily revert back if needed.

WHERE TO START
  1. START BY GOING ON A TEST RIDE!! BE SURE TO FULLY WARM UP YOUR VEHICLE
Your controller comes preset for stage 1 modifications which means an air filter and exhaust system change. For the majority of riders the controller is a complete Plug N Play unit. Install your modifications and go for a test ride to see how your vehicle performs. Be sure to properly warm up your vehicle before attempting to make tuning adjustments.

  2. WHAT TO LOOK FOR?
Take note of any bogs, surging, popping, or loss of power. Try to duplicate the problem a couple of times and recognize the steps you are performing to cause the problem. Relate the problem to the general phases of a drive cycle. Are you just cruising, trying to accelerate, or full throttle to feel the power?

  3. ADJUST A MODE AND CHECK THE RESULTS
If you have isolated a problem and related it to a phase of the drive cycle then try adjusting the mode a couple light settings either direction to see if you can make the problem better or worse. Some conditions can be caused by being either rich or lean so it is hard to generalize this for tuning advice.

  4. FINAL NOTE: REMEMBER THIS CONTROLLER ONLY ADJUSTS FUEL, IT'S NOT A FIX FOR ALL THE PROBLEMS
Fueling can be a band-aid for a number of problems and EFI controllers are easily the first thing to blame when a vehicle is not running right. Remember your controller is a piggy-back controller meaning it is only making adjustments on top of the stock ECU map. If another problem exists this may be affecting the stock map and causing your tuning problems.

BASE SETTINGS
Your controller comes pre-programmed for typical stage 1 modifications which means an air filter and exhaust system change. We recommend to install the product and drive your vehicle with these settings before making any adjustments.

Please browse the product section to your specific vehicle to find the listed recommended settings.

NOTE: You are probably not trying to win a drag race where everything needs to be perfect. There is a lot of room in tuning a vehicle to have it run just fine. Every rider is perfectly able to tune their own vehicle.

TUNING INTERACTIVE DEMO

The following interactive demo should help you understand what each mode adjustment is affecting within a vehicle drive cycle. Please remember the following points for this demo:
  1. The demo is illustrating the most common feature setup for applications. Be sure to understand which features are assigned for your particular controller. The features will be listed in your instructions. They can also be found by navigating to your vehicle in the product section.

  2. The fuel ranges are blown up for illustration purposes. In real applications, slight fuel changes from the stock curve can make a big difference.

  3. Do not assume from the power curve graph that the controller has simply low, mid, and high range fuel adjustments. For illustration purposes the graph shows the natural progression through the zones for one given gear.

  4. A GEN 3 application is displayed where fuel can only be added to the stock curve. GEN 3.5 applications can subtract fuel.
